Serious question

Are we looking to just- fly around a bit?

Are we looking to fight occasionel dogfights?

Are we looking to do co-ordinated Yap+Shap+chopper missions against human opponents?

On my view of the SIM each pilot needs to specialise on a plane for a minimuml of a month to be combat ready.

If so - I presume we are flying RED. If so choose 1 Yap 1 Shap and 1 Chopper so we can specialise.

Now the next SEOW are being prepared we will do those campaigns.

Set realistic targets of what you want to do with this sim if you want to do it seriously.

For each plane type there must be a separate 1 Hour practice session each week if you are serious.

Now what do you want to do?

Personaly we can do this sim or not. I have bought installed and got airborne killing stuff in the A10 - but we can do this casual, occasional or dedicated I'm not worried, loads to do?

I personally think we should stick to IL2 for the moment. That doesn't mean we can have a few laughs like we have in ROF but I do not think we have the manpower to do SEOWish stuff in both games and we have many pilots who do not want to fly Lock on(that is how it seems anyway). And Koshka, a real cockpit has a TV in it! ;)

I am sticking to IL-2 just at the moment as I don't have enough time to do what I want in the Great Patriotic War. I plan to get into FC2 enough to see what good it is before too long.

Stenka is correct about the specialization. Stick with one A/C until you know it. The newer aircraft really do require alot more specialized knowledge. If we stick to Red, I am seriously thinking about becoming a Frogfoot first. The systems will be easier than Mr. Suckhoi's ( :P ) product and it is a little closer to my roots.

I'm in for the fun/casual stuff, I don't see the reason not to hop on to some public server like 159th, 51th or 104th, if they are available. it's very unlikely that we will be able to gather enough people to do stuff on our own atm.

+1 for Frogfoot or Toad. they are the only crates that have realistic flight model in FC2 right now, and Frogfoot basically is not so much more advanced than IL2. yeah Boos, I know that Toad has idiot tube aboard :P, I just can't get used to it.

PS: Boos or Malysh - regarding the 159th server, is it possible to get rid of the red/blue icons in game, it really hinders my laser targeting badly, I'm not able to hit anything cause of that nuisance :?

I think we'll get 3-4 people flying with the 159th every now and again and a few who lone-wolf it. IMO that's the best we can expect. We're too few to have a proper 69GIAP contingent.
On the other hand they're a fun bunch and they already have three wings set up, so why not? :)

Molot: icons? Never saw them, must be a mission-specific thing. I know that for "official" missions there are no icons.

yup, I was just now on their server (159th Dedicated, Caucasus Battle 16x16), and they have the friend/foe icons on.

Well I do have different Ideas. I intend to go out and find Squads to fight against in FC2...if the GIAP isnt up for it I can put it into the 159th for consideration. I dont intend on leaving IL-2 but I do intend to speciallize in the Su-27 and 33 and participate regularly. 8)

Ok.

Looks like we have a new game in the hangar.

I'm still a IL-2 GBAP pilot.

As Conan said, i will focus on one model, i don't have too much time.

And after see the tutorial videos, the Su-25 looks the most similar to IL-2 later models.

About SU-25 and SU-25T i don't care too much but i guess that SU-25 will be easier.

aye, it's the least technical advanced plane in FC2, only gauges, gunsight and laser designator. imho, it flies nicer than it's fat brother T, but requires a lot of tactics, because of the weapons and targeting - eyes only, no electro-optic devices. but hey, we GIAP fellas have big balls, don't we? who cares if we step into SAM/flak firing range when going in hot? we eat danger for breakfast! :D
